| The African Caribbean Re-Union was established in June 1996 and has achieved charitable status. The motto of the organisation which is ‘Bridging Our Differences” does not only refer to people from the African and African Caribbean community or members of the organisation. The motto spreads out to every one within the community as we all share our different cultures to build our local community. |

| For the public at large, we want to promote a better understanding and appreciation of the worth and influence of the history, art and culture of Africa and the Caribbean, leading to the abandonment of stereotypes. For Africans and Caribbeans, we wish to promote a sense of pride in the achievements of their ancestors, leading to more desire to learn of their past, a sense of unity among all Blacks (cf. our motto ‘Bridging Our Differences’), and hopefully a decrease in ‘black on black’ frictions and conflicts. |
| As an organisation we have been contributing and leaving positive prints in our community and London wide through cultural activities and events such as: |
- Yearly Cultural Event in July
- Exhibition of Africa’s contribution to world history, namely “A Taste of Africa”
- Touring Exhibition
- African Music and Art Workshops

| Our main goal now is to establish the African Caribbean Healing and Educational Centre. This building is to encourage life long learning and be a resource centre for young people, students and residents whereby the education of our history can be promoted. Our services can reach more people, and we can make better programmes. It will house, among other things, the exhibition “A Taste of Africa”. Many applications made for funding for a building for this centre have not been successful yet. |

| We plan to design and print cultural artefacts for sale. This includes African-themed postcards, T-Shirts, bags, ties, dresses and stationery. Any developments on this issue will be updated on this website. |
